Amethyst Cottage

Project Overview

Set in the heart of Chapel Porth, St Agnes, Amethyst Cottage is a spacious countryside home where we were contracted to deliver all carpentry works for a substantial extension, including the creation of a luxurious wet‑room ensuite. Working closely with both the clients and the wider contractor team, we delivered a finish that met exceptionally high standards throughout.

The Brief

The clients required a large two‑storey extension built to premium specifications, while maintaining a clean, organised working environment as they continued living on site with their children. Attention to detail and minimal disruption were essential from day one.

Key Decisions

A number of design choices shaped the character and quality of the final build, including:
·     Bath placement
·     Grain‑matched flooring continuing seamlessly up the staircase
·     Centralising the kitchen island beneath the Velux
·     Cladding selection
·     Aluminium coping details
These decisions, along with many smaller refinements, contributed to the uniqueness and precision of the project.

The Build

The extension was constructed using primary blockwork with timber intermediate floors and a bespoke cut roof. Our contract covered all carpentry, tiling, and finishing works—perfectly aligned with our core expertise and craftsmanship.

The Outcome

The result is a picturesque blend of old and new: the original curved stone cottage now meets a crisp, modern timber‑clad extension, creating a striking yet sympathetic contrast. The finished build sits beautifully within its surroundings and elevates the character of the property as a whole.
